Lorinda Menchavez

In our chaotic world, art is a requirement; a beautiful rose amongst the thorns.  It offers hope for our collective spirit and soothes the heart.  In my creations, I'd like to share this notion of serenity.

Lorinda Menchavez, an artist of ancient Assyrian heritage, individually designs and hand-sculpts elegant figurative sculptures, serving ware, and accessories.  She manifests her artistic visions in porcelain, fine-grained stoneware, and terra cotta clays.

Over many years, Lorinda has perfected an involved and intricate hand building method which includes both primitive and modern techniques.  After several weeks of building and drying, the bone-dry pieces are bisque fired in a 1900 degree Fahrenheit fiery kiln.  After two days the pieces are ready to be glazed.  Commercial stains, oxides, under glaze, and custom formulated glazes are then brushed on, sponged off, and brushed on again to further refine her design.  The pieces get their final firing in a 2200 degree Fahrenheit kiln.

These collectible items can become treasured heirlooms, yet are sturdy enough to be used for any occasion.  All pieces are signed and dated by the artist.
